The B&M® Transpak represents the next advancement beyond the B&M Shift Improver kit, encompassing all the features found in the Shift Improver kit and offering additional driver manual control (exclusive to GM TH-400, 350, Ford C-6, and Chrysler Torqueflite). This Transpak™ kit is specifically designed for 1965-1987 GM TH400/375 automatic transmissions.
Typically, stock automatic transmissions limit downshifting into low gear above 15 mph and automatically upshift at a predetermined speed, regardless of the gear engaged. With the Transpak, you gain the ability to downshift at any speed and maintain first gear at any desired speed. This flexibility proves invaluable for modified engines seeking extra RPMs or for scenarios involving towing trailers or navigating downhill with heavy loads.
In Stage 1, Heavy Duty mode, tailored for street rods, normal passenger vehicles, or heavy-duty use, the shifts are firmer for an improved shift feel without harshness. This mode significantly enhances transmission performance and lifespan without sacrificing comfort, maintaining normal automatic operation when in Drive. Stage 2, designed for high-performance street use, shares similarities with Heavy Duty mode but boasts quicker shifts. It retains full automatic features and standard shift points when the selector is in Drive.
