The second-generation 2.7L EcoBoost features a sophisticated dual-injection system, combining both port and direct injection to optimize efficiency across the entire RPM range.
While the inclusion of port injection helps to keep the intake valves clean, it doesn't fully shield your engine from the effects of blow-by. As blow-by flows through the intake, it can coat vital components like sensors and your intercooler with a harmful sludge of oil, carbon, and fuel, ultimately hindering their performance. Moreover, blow-by can compromise the effectiveness of your engine oil. The factory air-oil separator drains blow-by back into the oil pan, which is environmentally friendly, but the fuel and water present in the blow-by can thin your engine oil, reducing its viscosity and performance. Additionally, any blow-by that returns to the cylinder can lower the effective octane of your fuel, which, for a high-strung turbocharged engine like the 2.7L EcoBoost, means a reduction in power.

Designed with an internal baffle and air turbulators, our catch cans condense oil, fuel, and water vapor from the blow-by while a 50-micron sintered bronze filter captures carbon particles.
