This power generates a significant amount of heat, and if that heat isn't properly managed, it can lead to transmission failure. While the stock transmission cooler does its job, it relies on the fluid reaching it in the first place.
The factory cooling system in the Allison 1000 transmission includes an in-line thermal bypass valve that controls fluid flow to the cooler, keeping fluid from circulating until it reaches operating temperature. Unfortunately, the thermostat inside this valve is known to fail, which can prevent the fluid from ever reaching the cooler, leading to overheating.
