When dialing in a race car’s suspension, testing the exact poundage of every coil spring is a mandatory step for front-running teams. However, many standard coil-over spring raters and load-rating machines are designed around modern 2.5" or 3" diameter springs. If a racer needs to test the massive traditional springs used in street stocks, dirt modifieds, or heavy-duty front clips, they cannot safely or accurately compress them on standard flat pads.
The Longacre 73502 Coil Spring Cups are the purpose-built solution. Designed specifically for massive 5" and 5-1/2" Outer Diameter (OD) springs, these heavy-duty cups bolt directly onto standard Longacre spring raters. They securely cradle both traditional "flat end" coils and tricky "pigtail" ends, keeping the massive spring perfectly centered during compression.
Key Features
-
Large Diameter Fitment: Specifically engineered to accept oversized 5-inch and 5.5-inch OD conventional springs, allowing chassis builders to test stock-car style front and rear suspension springs on a standard rater.
-
Dual-Style End Compatibility: Features precision machining designed to properly seat both standard flat-ground ends and traditional factory-style "pigtail" coil ends securely.
-
Eliminates Spring Bow: By centering the spring perfectly at both the top and bottom of the testing machine, these cups prevent the spring from kicking out or flexing sideways, ensuring a dead-accurate, straight-line poundage reading.
-
Complete Hardware Kit: Sold as a complete set of two (2) cups and includes all the necessary mounting bolts for a quick, direct-fit installation onto a Longacre spring load machine.
