In micro-scale crawlers, the gears inside the tiny servos are microscopic. A single hard tumble down a rock face or a wheel getting jammed in a crack can strip those gears instantly. This servo saver uses a spring-loaded or friction-ring mechanism to absorb those shock loads, allowing the arm to slip rather than break the servo, before snapping back to center.
