This tester is designed to verify the functionality of all MSD single-channel CD Ignition Controls. Once the ignition is confirmed to be in good working order, you can proceed with troubleshooting to identify any issues.
The tester generates a simulated trigger signal that activates the ignition system as if the engine were running. It includes a special clip-on spark plug with a load-producing feature connected to the coil wire. If the spark cannot bridge the tester's gap, indicating an ignition problem, you can pinpoint and address the issue.
For racers utilizing MSD Digital Programmable 7 Ignition Controls with a non-magnetic pickup for Individual Cylinder Management, the Tester includes a circuit to check its operation.
Equipped with an LCD display, the tester clearly indicates the simulated RPM, allowing you to assess the accuracy of rpm limits, rpm-activated switches, shift light functionality, and your tachometer. Operating on 4, 6, or 8-cylinder engines, the tester can simulate speeds up to 16,000 rpm.
