The MPI MP Steering Wheel is the model that launched Max Papis Inc., representing the pinnacle of lightweight stock car steering wheels. As the lightest steel wheel on the market, it comes in four sizes (13, 14, 15, and 16 inches) and offers two grip thickness options (O and OE). This wheel incorporates MPI's signature Safety U-channel and double rivet technology, ensuring top-tier performance and safety.
Safety is paramount in all MPI products. The inner structure of the MP wheel is engineered to deform under elevated impacts, effectively absorbing the load and reducing the effects on the driver’s upper body. This design provides a crucial safety advantage during high-impact situations. The inner foam injection has the highest vibration absorption rate in the industry, further enhancing driver comfort and control.
The MP wheel features a special oval-shaped grip that provides a natural feel for the driver. Two grip shapes are available:
- O Grip: A more rounded style with a consistent radius around the wheel, offering a thicker feel. This grip is ideal for drivers who frequently move their hands on the wheel.
- OE Grip: An oval-shaped grip with pronounced thumb inserts that feels slightly thinner, promoting a firmer hold. This grip is preferred by drivers who maintain a consistent hand position.
The selected suede covering, combined with a hand-stitched finish, delivers a high-grip feel that reduces the effort needed to hold the wheel, enhancing driver feedback and control. The MPI Orange marker provides a visual reference for both the driver and crew chief to monitor steering wheel position.
Each wheel is individually serial numbered for traceability and comes complete with MPI’s dedication to quality and detail, including a super light center pad for additional driver protection.
