The 2.3L EcoBoost engine features direct fuel injection, which offers great fuel efficiency and power but also comes with a common drawback—carbon buildup on the intake valves. Without port injection to clean the valves, blow-by gases containing oil and carbon deposits can build up on the intake valves over time, reducing airflow and potentially preventing the valves from sealing properly. This can lead to poor performance, decreased fuel efficiency, and even engine damage.
Our Mishimoto 2.3L EcoBoost Bronco direct-fit catch can kit is designed to solve this problem by trapping oil, fuel, and water vapor from the blow-by gases before they can reach the intake valves. Inside the catch can, a system of baffles and air turbulators works to separate these harmful contaminants, which are collected in the can and can be drained during regular oil changes. This keeps the intake valves clean, ensuring smooth airflow and optimal engine performance while also preventing oil contamination in your crankcase. A sintered bronze filter further cleans the crankcase gases, ensuring only clean air is recirculated back into the intake.
