Driven Racing Oil BR40 Conventional 10W-40 Break-In Oil offers the same high Zinc and Phosphorus formula as the original break-in oil, now in a versatile SAE 10W-40 viscosity. This formulation is well-suited for classic muscle cars, European sports cars, and motorcycle engines, making it an ideal choice for enthusiasts who demand peak performance during the crucial break-in period.
Designed for flat tappet and aggressive roller valve trains, BR40 is compatible with ethanol-blended fuels, pure methanol, and oxygenated race fuels. It does not require additional ZDDP additives, ensuring straightforward application and maximum protection. This oil is suitable for dyno testing, a night of racing, or up to 400 miles on the street, providing reliable performance under various conditions.
Driven BR40 is specifically formulated as a break-in oil and should only be used during the engine break-in phase. It does not meet current API or OEM engine oil specifications, reinforcing its specialized purpose.
Proper Break-In Procedure:
Driven’s break-in oil is exceptionally high in ZDDP (typically 2800-3000 PPM) but features low detergent levels. This low detergent content allows the “fast burn” ZDDP additive to adhere directly to all ferrous metal wear surfaces, providing maximum scuffing protection.
- Run the break-in oil for the first 30 minutes.
- Change the filter and oil, replacing it with fresh break-in oil to flush out wear metals and assembly lubricants.
- Continue running approximately 400 miles on break-in oil.
- Change the filter again and replace the break-in oil with your usual Driven Racing Oil.
Choose Driven BR40 for unparalleled protection and performance during your engine’s critical break-in period.
