Introducing a redesigned model featuring an adjustable outer sheath, this throttle valve cable (TV cable) serves as a true universal replacement.
While commonly mistaken for a detent downshift cable, the TV cable plays a crucial role in modern cars with automatic transmissions. Its functions extend beyond downshifting to include control over line pressures, shift points, part-throttle downshifts, and detent downshifts. Operating similarly to combination vacuum modulator/cable systems in other automatic transmissions, the TV cable connects to the throttle linkage and the transmission.
As the throttle is engaged, the cable is pulled, leading to progressively delayed upshifts at higher throttle positions. Moreover, when the cable reaches a certain level of pull, ideally when the pedal is fully depressed, the transmission is prompted to downshift if possible.
