Transmission bands serve as thin steel bands anchored to a transmission's case, facilitating gear selection and action. Hydraulic transmission fluid plays a crucial role in activating these bands, connected to servos. The servos, filled with hydraulic fluid due to torque converter pressure, exert force against the bands, securing them around the transmission drums.
Concurrently, flex bands, integral for gear action, establish a link between the transmission axle shaft and gears. Each transmission gear set corresponds to specific bands and drums, initiating transmission gear action. As fluid exits the servos, the bands disengage, and the process reverses.
TCI® High Performance Flex Bands boast band linings with an elevated friction coefficient, enhancing torque capacity and enabling quicker, more positive band engagement. Additionally, TCI® offers "Powerbands™" incorporating the robust material, Kevlar. These bands, up to 18% wider than OE counterparts, deliver increased torque capacity, positive shifts, and band application. Featuring extra-thick, heat-treated, high-carbon steel construction in the anchor area, these bands mitigate stretching and breakage often associated with stock bands. Essential for street, towing, or competitive applications, these bands ensure optimal performance.
